There has been a flirtation with electronic drums since the early 80's. At first, electronics were used to create new and unique sounds, while adding a new trend on stage towards a high-tech look, instantly creating a split between "Acoustic" and "Electronic" players. Then, as the 90's rolled in and the craft of music sequencing became ,"Is it Real or is it a Computer? ", there came a loud scream for realism from electronic drums.
So companies like Alesis and Roland came out with sound modules that brought electronic drummers and music sequence artists the tools to reproduce the Real thing.
The only constant throughout this decade of evolution and de-evolution of the world of percussion was the Dauz pad. World renowned, and the trigger of choice by the pros, this drum has proved the most road worthy, and more satisfying to play on than any acoustic drum! I've played drums my entire life; I've been on the road with bands, studied in college with some of the best percussion teachers, and for the past twelve years have been a middle school band director. IMHO, Dauz pads are the better instrument.
Dauz drums has steered live performance and music composition into a new direction. With the performer and educator in mind, we at Dauz have made an ever evolving tool . The Dauz kit with it's Real Time Engine lets the driver explore music, video and all forms of cyber sound. From your pad kit you can perform complete orchestrations of lavish music scores, or raw rock riffs, and punctuate them with sound and video samples.
